Depart directly after the Defender Trophy, enjoy 2 x full days of game viewing as you drive through the famous Kruger National Park, before exploring the heart of the Battlefields of the Anglo Zulu War.

Sunday 24 May

Depart from Awelani Lodge in northern Limpopo, enter the famous Kruger National Park, and drive through the Park via Pafuri, Satara and Mopani to Phalaborwa where we exit the Park.

A bit of shopping before we re-enter the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park and proceed to Mtomeni Wilderness Camp which is situated on the banks of the Great Letaba river.

Monday 25 May

Early morning guided walk, before we enjoy breakfast en re-enter the Kruger National Park.

Today the road takes us past Letaba, Olifants, Satara and Skukuza before we exit the Park, and proceed to Alkmaar Farm stay.

Tuesday 26 May

Early departure as we hit the road in a south easterly direction to the famous KZN battlefields.

From Ladysmith we drive via Spioenkop, Vaalkrans and Platrand before settling into the comfortable Platrand Lodge.

Wednesday 27 May

Depart after breakfast to Colonso (Stevenson Museum, Ambleside, Gun Sites and Clouston).

Continue to Winston Churchill capture site, and from there visit Tugela Heights-Wynne’s Hill, Light Somerset, Harts Hill, Pom Pom Bridge and Pieters Hill. After an exciting day we enter Nambiti Big 5 private game reserve, where we will overnight in one of their luxury tented camps.

Thursday 28 May

Depart from the beautiful Nambiti, and drive deeper into KwaZulu-Natal to the famous Rorke’s Drift Lodge. Here we will be met by the famous Doug Rattray, who will entertain us with his superior knowledge of the battles fought at Isandlwana and Rorke’s Drift – the perfect ending to a battlefields tour!

Friday 29 May

Depart after breakfast for a six hour drive through the lovely Drakensberg escarpment and the rolling grass veld of the Free State province, before arriving back at OR Tambo International.

  • Accommodation from Sunday 24 May up to and including Thursday 28 May
